About Me

My name is Matt Berg. I am 28 years old and a recent MBA graduate from Thunderbird. Currently, I am in Bamako, Mali with the GeekCorps as the Country Director for the Mali Geekcorps Program.
I believe in the potential of technology to make people’s life in developing countries better. I am interested particularly in business/market based development strategies since I believe these are the most sustainable. I am a skilled Web Programmer with a computer science degree from Knox College. I am very thankful for the education, experience, and friends I gained at both of these schools.
I am now a proud member of the Thunderbird Rugby Old Boys and a world traveler. I was born in Cameroon and have lived in Senegal, Zimbabwe, Mexico and the United Kingdom which was my most difficult cultural adjustment. I believe everyone should be exposed to the music of groups like Oliver Mtukudzi and Orchestra Baobob and that Bono is even a better person then he is a singer.
I believe that faith is in important particularly since I do not know what lies ahead. Right now, I am excited about the potential of my current project and hope that it will ultimately be beneficial. I am particularly grateful for my supportive family and friends who never told it would be crazy to follow my heart.
